Training

Our staff are our most important resource. We are committed to ensuring that they are fully trained and able to provide the highest levels of safety and quality. We aim to develop a unique atmosphere that encourages teamwork, open communication, personal development and the contribution of each individual

All JCA instructors participate in a three week training programme prior to starting work on centre. The training course covers everything that an instructor needs to know to do the job. This includes being trained on how to deliver sessions, child protection, health and safety, working with teachers etc.

In addition JCA are proud to offer an apprenticeship programme for instructors. The Apprenticeship programme in Activity Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification which allows you to learn and develop new skills during your time with JCA.

After the training course instructors will have to demonstrate a competence in areas such as:

• planning, leading and reviewing activity sessions
• health and safety
• teamwork
• setting up and storing equipment
• customer care

You will also learn about employment rights, JCA as an organisation and the industry you work in. This will all be completed through workshops, observations and practical assessments.

The apprenticeship is an amazing opportunity for JCA staff to gain experience within the outdoor industry while working towards a valuable qualification that could give your career a great head start.
